🌙 Why Sleep Is So Important
Category: Uncategorized
“You can fake a smile. You can push through the day. But you can’t fake rest.”
For years, I treated sleep like a luxury. Something I’d catch up on “when I had time.”
But the truth is—sleep is not a luxury. It’s survival.
After the Gulf War, I thought I was tough. I pushed through the PTSD, the teaching stress, the emotional weight of caregiving. But when prostate cancer came into my life, my sleep disappeared—and everything else started falling apart.
💥 I couldn’t focus.
💥 I snapped at loved ones.
💥 My body wasn’t healing like it should.
💥 Emotionally, I felt drained even before I got out of bed.
That’s when it hit me:
Without sleep, you can’t think clearly, feel deeply, or heal completely.
Sleep isn’t just about rest—it’s about repair. It’s when your brain processes trauma, your heart finds rhythm, and your immune system gets back on track.
Now, I treat sleep as part of my wellness routine—just like breathing, movement, or prayer. I’ve learned what helps me calm my mind, prepare my body, and reset my emotions. Yes, I use a few natural supports, but more importantly, I’ve made rest a priority—not a reward.
💤 If you’re struggling to sleep, please know you’re not alone. I share tips, routines, and lessons I’ve learned in my Weekly Wellness Discovery Show. You can find details anytime on my Facebook profile page.
Sleep saved me. It can help you, too.
Your healing starts the moment you stop treating rest like weakness.
